Great Holster Carry Options for 1911 Handguns by Side Guard Holsters

1911 handguns are not as hard to carry or conceal and carry as you might think.  1911s are genrally thin and flat sided except for the hammer and beaver tail on the slide.  That is why all our holsters come with Side Guards to protect you from the gun and gun from you. We make a lot of 1911 Defender, Officer, Commander and Government sized holsters and below are the most recommended options for carrying them.

OWB Recommendations:

The Slide - Great concealment pancake style holster that makes the heavy Firestar handguns very concealable and comfortable to carry.  The Side Guard protects you from the gun and the gun from you by covering the hammer and safety.

The Snap Reinforced - Great option for those who want a flat back side of the holster, easy on and off holster with the leather loop with snaps and even more comfortable to wear but not as concealable compared to The Slide.

IWB Recommendations:

Double Clip or Double Snap Reinforced - Surprisingly comfortable to carry a heavier gun like a M&P.  It holds the gun securely, does not move around on your belt with the two connections and pancake style makes for a very comfortable all day wear.  The Side Guard protects the gun from you and you from the gun especially the slide.

Double Tuck Clip or Double Tuck Snap Reinforced - Surprisingly comfortable tuckable option to carry a medium to large gun like a M&P even tucked in.  It holds the gun securely, does not move around on your belt with the two connections and pancake style makes for a very comfortable all day wear.  The tuckable version enables you to tuck your shirt in between the holster body and connection (Clip or Snap). Hammar - Great strong side minimal width holster but with two connection like a Double Snap.  The reinforced opening support easy reholstering and surprisingly comfortable.
